5 Current Best Football Players in the World

There are a large number of football players around the world today, and many of these players tend to idolize other players as well, from both their local neighborhoods and from the top players in the world. Fans can argue on who the best players are among the world, and many would even try to make their own dream teams with the players they want.

There are a lot of people who agree in some fan favorites and among these are the top five players today ranked while considering the biggest sports leagues around the world. Among those that easily make the top five are Lionel Messi, Neymar, and others can complete the top five.

1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona FC and Argentina National Football Team)


Lionel Messi is said to play football like his boots, and the ball are glued to one another. His skills in dribbling allowed him to mislead his opponents before scoring a goal. With his skills, he has been able to dominate the UEFA Champions League.

Messi has an exceptional goal-scoring record of 419 goals in his 445 official matches as part of Barcelona FC. He is also currently holding the Guinness World Record for the most scores made in a calendar year which is 91 goals in 2012. Messi is also currently the only player to have made scores in four consecutive Champions League campaigns.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus F.C. and Portugal National Football Team)

Cristiano Ronaldo is a 34-year-old football player who can arguably be called the greatest of all time, especially since he once had a duopoly with Lionel Messi only to be broken with PSG’s Neymar, leading them to become arguably the top three football players in the world.

His killer instinct in his games kept him from being left out of the top five dispelling any rumors that once arose pertaining in his career’s demise, being able to make 451 goals for Real Madrid and an overall 600 career club goals.

He has left Real Madrid for Juventus FC and has joined it as a veteran in the field.

3. Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain F.C. and France National Football Team)

Kylian Mbappe is a part of the next generation of footballers there are in the world and serves as the face of his generation, especially with speculations that it is only a matter of years before he’d win his first Ballon d’Or.

Mbappe already has a world cup under his belt. One could argue that he’s bound to become the best in the world, but either Rolando or Messi currently impedes his path.

Kylian Mbappe was able to play spectacularly in Ligue 1 while confusing his opponents during his games in the league. During Ligue 1, he was able to score one goal for every 46 minutes.

Already one of the biggest stars in football, he may very well become the best, especially since he is still far removed from his prime age.

Mbappe is currently in a tight race with Messi for the Golden Boot.

4. Neymar Jr. (Paris Saint-Germain F.C. and Brazil National Football Team)

Neymar is one player that leaves the global audiences captivated during his games. His tendency to dive, however, led to many people calling him a clown. Despite being called a clown, he has been able to score a goal once every 65 minutes in the France Ligue 1, and he was able to perform just as well in the UEFA Champions League, until a controversy that led to him having a three-match ban.

Many call Neymar as modern football’s greatest entertainer and his contributions to Paris Saint-Germain up until his controversial ban could easily make his as part of the top five players in the world. One reason is he was able to break the duopoly of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

5. Raheem Sterling (Manchester City and England National Football Team)

Raheem Sterling is currently one of the most discussed football players in the world. Sterling is able to play maturely in the current season.

Sterling can arguably be named as the best football player in this season’s Premier League as he was able to make 15 goals and 11 assists this season. He can also bring the performance he presented in the Premier League in the international stage.

Thanks to his current performance, he is likely to be awarded the “player of the year” award in this season’s Premier League, making him deserving of his spot in the top five.
